How your level is decided

Your level comes from the placement test result, not from guesswork. Take our French placement test first: the result tells you the exact step to register for — A1.2, A2.3, B1.4, and so on. Already studying at CECFQ? Your teacher tells you the next step, no need to retake the test.

Each CEFR level (A1, A2, B1, B2) is split into four steps, so you progress without skipping anything:

  • A1.1 – A1.4: from complete beginner to advanced beginner. Understand and be understood in simple everyday situations.
  • A2.1 – A2.4: consolidate the basics and speak with more confidence.
  • B1.1 – B1.4: communicate independently at work, in your studies and in daily life.
  • B2.1 – B2.4: build precise arguments and understand complex texts.

The placement test is taken online and its result stands for your registration, so you join a group moving at your own pace.

Seats are limited to 6 per group. Once a session has started, registration for that group closes: the next session begins in November 2026.
